Iran summons Norwegian ambassador over satellite dispute
Iran has summoned Norway's ambassador and is demanding that the country stop the US and Israel from using the Starlink satellite network within Iran.
Iran alleges that the US and Israel are using the American satellite network Starlink to carry out attacks inside Iran.
The country demands that Norway—which is responsible for registering the satellite network with the UN agency for information and communication technology (ITU)—take action to prevent the unauthorized use of Starlink on Iranian territory, Iranian state media reports.
Starlink is banned in Iran, but around 50,000 Starlink terminals are believed to have been smuggled into the country.
Anti-regime activists in Iran have described the satellite network as crucial for showing the outside world what is happening in the country.
