Estonia moves forces closer to Russia
Estonia is moving forces closer to the Russian border as part of its defense strategy, the Financial Times reports.
The redeployment is permanent, according to sources within the Estonian Defence Forces who spoke to the newspaper.
The country is also reportedly expanding its long-range strike capabilities.
These measures come against the backdrop of Russia’s escalating war in Ukraine and hybrid attacks against European nations—particularly those in its immediate geographic vicinity.
Estonian military and intelligence officials believe Moscow is preparing for a future conflict with Estonia—possibly a "small-scale" invasion intended to test NATO’s collective defense, the Financial Times writes.
