Kim congratulates Putin – hails his "holy war"
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is congratulating his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, on his 74th birthday.
In a letter reported by North Korean state media, Kim speaks warmly of his "good friendship" with Putin and the relationship between their two countries.
"I affirm my unwavering support for you and the Russian Federation," the letter states, with the North Korean dictator expressing his conviction that "the Russian people's holy war for justice" will end in victory.
While much of the world has distanced itself from Russia, the country has strengthened ties with the even more isolated North Korea. Thousands of North Korean soldiers have participated in Russia's war of invasion in Ukraine.
