"Megatalent" killed in collision between fighter planes
Three Ukrainian fighter pilots have died in a collision between two fighter jets over the Zhytomyr region of Ukraine. This is stated by the country's air force according to Reuters.
The crash is a blow to Ukraine, which plans to quickly train its pilots to fly the F16 planes promised by the West.
Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ignat says one of the dead was "mega talent" Andriy Pilshchykov. He was part of a unit known as the "Ghost of Kyiv" that defended the central and northern parts of the country at the beginning of the war.
- Pilshchykov devoted his short but brilliant life to combat aviation. He dreamed of flying the F16 in the Ukrainian sky, says Ignat according to AFP.

Biggest Loch Ness Monster Search in 50 Years
Hundreds of people gathered at Loch Ness in Scotland on Saturday to take part in the biggest search for the so-called Loch Ness monster in over 50 years, British media reports. In addition, around 300 people had signed up to monitor a live broadcast from the search.
Drones equipped with infrared cameras have been flown over the lake and a hydrophone used to detect unusual underwater sounds.
- With more eyes on the water than ever, and the technology we have now, we have a good chance of discovering something, says organizer Paul Nixon to The Guardian.

More countries give endangered animals similar protections as humans
A growing number of countries are introducing conservation laws that give endangered animals a similar legal status to humans, writes The Washington Post. One of these countries is Panama, which earlier this year passed a new law guaranteeing sea turtles the right to thrive in a healthy environment.
Unlike more traditional animal protections, which usually kick in when a species is endangered, these laws of nature are meant to be preventive. Often this involves hiring managers who work to preserve habitats, but also filing lawsuits on the animals' behalf if their rights are violated.
- With the wildly increasing extinction rate, existing protections are simply not enough, says animal rights expert Nicholas Fromherz

Several shot in Copenhagen - one dead
A person in their 30s has died and another four have been injured in a shooting in Christiania in Copenhagen, Danish media reports. Danish police work with the hypothesis that the incident is related to gang crime and related to the drug trade in the area.
Two people have been arrested after a "massive" operation.
According to Danish police, there is no reason for people to avoid the area in the coming days.
- We will have a large presence through a safety-creating investment now and for a long time to come. So people shouldn't be worried, says police officer Tommy Laursen to Danish TV
