The election in the USA

Politics site: Historically even - but Trump has a slight advantage

Based on the opinion polls, this year's presidential election in the United States looks to be historically even. That's what The Hill writes, which nevertheless makes an attempt to predict a winner in the future ball.

The politics site states that right now it is a dead heat in the seven wave master states, because the differences are so small that they fall within the margin of error. But if either candidate has a tiny advantage, it's Republican Donald Trump.

The Hill refers to opinion polls from DDHQ, Fivethirtyeight and The New York Times where Trump had a slight lead over Kamala Harris in six and five swing states, respectively, on Friday night. At the same time Harris' lead in the national polls is shrinking.

But, the site points out: "Even if Trump has a certain advantage, it is not decisive". The margins are so small that it's like "spending a penny".

The National Guard on standby after the arson attacks

Members of the US National Guard are being put on standby in the state of Washington ahead of the upcoming election week, writes the Washington Post. The reason is the last week's arson attack on ballot boxes in the state, as well as in the neighboring state of Oregon.

According to the newspaper, the troops will be activated between November 4 and 7. Their task is to support the police, protect infrastructure and respond to any disturbances.

Washington Governor Jay Inslee calls it all a precautionary measure, but at the same time warns of a high level of threat to important election infrastructure this year.

Arab American who supports Trump: "Harris must pay for the war in Gaza"

Democrats have taken the support of Arab Americans for granted for too long - now they have to pay for their support of Israel in the war in Gaza and Lebanon. So says Samraa Luqman, an American with roots in Yemen who intends to vote for Donald Trump.

Al Jazeera has visited the city of Dearborn in the important key state of Michigan, which has a large percentage of Arab-American residents. More and more of the electorate are giving their support to Trump, not infrequently out of dissatisfaction with the Democrats' support for Israel.

Samraa Luqman says a vote for Trump is a gamble.

- Even if there is a 99 percent chance that he will continue this genocide, I take the one percent chance that he will stop it, she tells the site.
