Iran: A ceasefire could influence our response

A ceasefire between Israel and Iran's allies in the Middle East could affect Iran's response to last weekend's Israeli attack. This is stated by the president Masoud Pezeshkian according to AFP.

- If (the Israelis) reevaluate their behavior, accept a ceasefire and stop massacring the oppressed and innocent peoples of the region, it could affect the way we respond and how intensively, he said, according to state-run IRNA.

According to Israeli intelligence sources, Iran is planning a revenge attack on Israel, which could come within the next few days. Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei has promised a "crushing response" to the air strike on Tehran.

Israel confirms first ground operation in Syria

Israel has conducted a ground operation in Syria and arrested a Syrian citizen accused of spying on Israel on behalf of Iran, the IDF said, according to the AP.

It is the first time Israel has openly confirmed a ground operation in Syria. In the past year, several airstrikes have been carried out in the country against targets with Hezbollah and Iran connections.

The operation must have been carried out "in recent months", the IDF states, but does not specify further.

Syria has not commented on the data.

Netanyahu made an unexpected visit to Lebanon's border

On Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made an unexpected visit to the border with Lebanon in northern Israel, news agencies report.

- Let me be clear: With or without an agreement, the key to restoring peace and security in the north [...] is first and foremost to push Hezbollah back to the other side of the Litani River, he told soldiers.

The other priorities are to prevent Hezbollah from further arming and to "respond firmly" to any actions against Israel, he added.

The visit took place on a troubled day, with Israeli attacks in southern and eastern Lebanon and about a hundred rockets fired from Lebanon into Israel.

Large protests in Tel Aviv - criticism of Netanyahu

Late Saturday evening, over 1,000 people took part in a demonstration against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Tel Aviv, Israeli media reports. The protesters demand an immediate end to the wars in Gaza and Lebanon and the release of the hostages held by Hamas.

Relatives of people kidnapped or killed in connection with the Gaza war participated in the protests.

- Netanyahu, you have failed the hostages and you have failed us, says Einav Zangauker, who is the mother of one of the hostages.

Many expressed dissatisfaction with the Israeli government's handling of the ceasefire agreement and the hostages.
