Envoy after Greenland's refusal to send hospital ship: "Shame on you!"

US special envoy to Greenland Jeff Landry writes on X that Greenland's Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen should be ashamed, Danish media report. This after Nielsen said no to the hospital ship that Donald Trump said he would send to Greenland.

Landry writes that he has "talked to many Greenlanders" about their everyday problems and that the issue of healthcare often comes up.

"A healthy Greenland is crucial for US national security," he writes further.

TV2 points out, however, that Landry has not visited Greenland since he was appointed special envoy in December last year. However, he was recently visited by Greenlandic Trump supporter Jørgen Boassen.

The envoy's shameful words are a "clear escalation"

The fact that US special envoy to Greenland Jeff Landry believes that the head of the Greenland government should be ashamed of having turned down Trump's hospital ship is a "clear escalation". This is according to TV2's US correspondent Lotte Mejlhede.

- While yesterday there were several people on the diplomatic side who probably hoped that this issue of an American hospital ship could run into the sand, that is not where we are anymore, she says.

According to Mejlhede, a response from Denmark and Greenland is required to Landry's new statement. She says that a situation has arisen where the US is demanding to be given a gift that no one asked for.
