South Korea's ex-president appeals verdict: "Excessive prosecution"

Theft at the Louvre
Laurence des Cars resigns after the Louvre heist

Louvre director Laurence des Cars is resigning, reports TT. The announcement comes four months after the major jewel heist against the art museum.

A statement from the French presidential office praises the decision, as it requires "new energy to carry out major security projects".

Last week, a parliamentary investigation is said to have concluded that there were major security flaws at the museum before the robbers struck.

A previous report has shown that the thieves were only 30 seconds away from being caught. They took stolen goods worth almost a billion kronor, which are still missing.
