Political situation in France
French government survives two more no-confidence votes

The French government has survived two more no-confidence votes in the National Assembly, Reuters reports.

Both were against the government's adoption of a new energy law by decree, without seeking parliamentary support.

One came from the far-right National Rally (RN) party and received 140 votes, far below the 289 needed to bring down the government. The left-wing Indomitable France (LFI) party raised its own no-confidence vote, which received 108 votes.

The left and the far-right usually never vote on each other's motions, and it was therefore expected that none of them would pass, writes France Info.

Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu criticizes the parties for what he calls "a pointless political mess."

Health of the Norwegian royal couple
King Harald to remain in hospital in Spain

King Harald of Norway will remain in hospital in Tenerife, Spain, for a few more days. This was stated by his personal physician Bjørn Bendz in a press release, Dagbladet reports.

“The King’s general condition is good and he is responding well to treatment,” writes Bendz, but emphasizes that when an 89-year-old is admitted with an infection, it is always serious.

“It is important that we get a good overview and check on his health before the king is discharged,” writes Bendz.

The king is being treated for a leg infection and dehydration during his private holiday in Tenerife.
