Source: US demands for halt to uranium enrichment rejected

The talks between the US and Iran on Iran's nuclear energy have started well, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said.

The countries met in Oman and the US was represented by special envoy Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner.

A source told Reuters that Iran's missile-building capacity was not part of the talks. The US wants Iran to stop enriching uranium, but the Iranian delegation is reportedly rejecting those demands.

Report: US and Ukraine want to reach peace agreement in March

The US and Ukraine are planning to sign a peace agreement in March, sources told Reuters. According to the proposal, the Ukrainian population will be allowed to vote on the agreement.

In addition, the plan is for national elections to be held in Ukraine once an agreement is in place.

Several sources say the timeframe is tied to the upcoming mid-term elections in the US. In the fall, Donald Trump is likely to want to focus more on domestic issues, which means less time for peace talks, according to the information.

American and Ukrainian representatives have discussed the possibility of holding national elections as early as May, something that the informants see as unreasonable due to the short preparation time.

It is also unlikely that there will even be an agreement in March, three sources say. Ukraine and Russia are still far apart when it comes to the issue of Ukrainian territory.
