The bonus prince in court: "Had an extreme need for confirmation
The Norwegian bonus prince Marius Borg Høiby is currently being questioned in court about one of the rapes he is suspected of. He begins by saying that he has felt persecuted by the press since he was three years old, and that he felt harassed.
He further says that he has lived a life with a lot of sex and alcohol.
- I have had an extreme need for confirmation, he says.
He confirms that he filmed the plaintiff woman with his phone, but that he did not share the films with anyone.
He also says that it is not abuse material and he denies the information that his mother, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, would have taken out the phone's SIM card before the police got it.
Regarding the evening in question in 2018, Borg Høiby says that the woman had flirted with him and that they took a taxi to the Crown Prince's residence Skaugum for after-party. He says that they later had consensual sex and that he does not recognize the acts in the indictment. According to him, the next morning they parted as friends.
– We hugged each other and the mood was good, he says.
The case is one of four rapes included in the indictment against Borg Høiby. He denies all four cases. In total, he is charged with 38 crimes and risks 16 years in prison if convicted on all counts.
Unclear whether the bonus prince can handle the interrogation: “We’ll see”
During the second day of the trial against Marius Borg Høiby, the Norwegian bonus prince is expected to tell his own story about one of the rapes he is accused of, writes DN.
However, his defense attorney Ellen Holager Andenæs tells the Norwegian Netavisen that it is not certain that he will be able to handle the interrogation. She says that Borg Høiby is feeling unwell.
– Both he and we The defense hopes he will explain himself, but I am not sure if it will work. We will see how he feels and come back, she says.
The woman who is claiming damages told on Tuesday how she met Borg Høiby at a nightclub in 2018 and how he raped her later that evening, at the crown prince couple's residence Skaugum.
