Pakistan: Has hit military targets in Afghanistan
Pakistan says its forces have attacked military facilities in southern Afghanistan, AFP reports.
Locals in Kandahar in southern Afghanistan tell AFP that they have seen jets over the city.
– Military planes flew over the mountain where there is a military facility, and then an explosion was heard, says a witness.
A spokesman for the Taliban regime in Afghanistan confirms the attacks, but says that the buildings that were hit are not military.
Afghanistan and Pakistan's conflict is record-breakingly bloody
The armed conflict between Afghanistan and Pakistan is the deadliest ever between the countries, writes AP.
The UN said on Friday that at least 75 civilians – a large proportion of whom are children – have been killed and 193 injured since the attacks began on February 26. In addition, over 100,000 people have been forced to flee their homes.
Pakistan has called the conflict “open war” and has carried out airstrikes on the capital Kabul, claiming it is a response to attacks by Afghan Islamists on Pakistani soil.
The Afghan Taliban government denies involvement in, or allowing, extremist attacks in Pakistan.
