Trump launches national hunt for welfare fraud

US President Donald Trump is expected to sign an order today to establish a national task force against welfare fraud, Reuters reports. The group will be led by Vice President JD Vance.

According to information in the tabloid New York Post, the focus will be on Democratic-controlled states such as California, Illinois, New York, Maine and Colorado.

The initiative comes after a high-profile scandal in Minnesota where extensive fraud was revealed within the social security system. The state's governor, Tim Walz, has criticized Trump for the targeted efforts against Democratic states in particular and accused the administration of pursuing a "retaliatory policy".

Trump's chief of staff has cancer - will stay in the White House

Donald Trump's chief of staff, Susie Wiles, has been diagnosed with breast cancer. The president writes this in a post on Truth Social.

Wiles will continue to work during treatment. Her prognosis is very good, according to Trump.

“Susie, as one of my closest and most important advisors, is tough and incredibly dedicated to serving the American people,” Trump wrote in his post.

Susie Wiles herself said in a statement to the New York Times that she will soon begin her treatment.

– Nearly one in eight women in the United States will receive this diagnosis. [...] Now I am one of them.
