A number of agencies have now been involved in the hunt for the truth about the dead and missing top scientists.

Top politicians in Washington fear a possible threat to American security.

– It’s pretty serious stuff, says President Trump according to CNN.

A total of ten American scientists who have disappeared or been killed without a trace are linked to the mysterious chain of events.

After the mystery received considerable attention in the media, the FBI has now launched an investigation with ramifications in a number of federal agencies.

Congressmen James Comer and Eric Burlison are now requesting information from the Department of Energy, the Department of Defense, the FBI and NASA about scientists and other personnel connected to US nuclear secrets or rocket technology who have died or mysteriously disappeared in recent years.

"May pose a serious threat"

The Oversight and Government Reform Committee said in a press release.

The committee said it has launched its own investigation into unconfirmed public reports of disappearances and deaths among people with access to sensitive US scientific information.

“If the reports are true, these deaths and disappearances could pose a serious threat to the national security of the United States and to American personnel with access to scientific secrets,” Comer and Burlison say.

They also write the following:

“Public reports are raising questions about a possible ominous connection between a series of mysterious deaths and disappearances that began in 2023 with the death of Michael David Hicks, who worked as a researcher at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL).”

Several cases are linked to NASA

JPL is a high-tech development center in California that is responsible for several of NASA’s most advanced space missions.

Michael David Hicks, 59, died in July 2023 after working at JPL for 24 years. He published more than 80 scientific articles that were crucial to NASA’s space research, according to the Daily Mail.

No cause of death has been determined, according to the newspaper.

After his death, nine more researchers have either died or disappeared in mysterious ways.

Among these are three researchers with close connections to Hicks:

Disappeared from Los Alamos

Frank Maiwald, 61, who was an award-winning researcher at JPL and worked on several projects with advanced satellite technology, died in July 2024.

His cause of death is also unknown, according to the Daily Mail.

And so on February 16 of this year, astrophysicist Carl Grillmair, 67, was murdered at his home.

He worked on developing space telescopes for Nasa using technology that, according to the Daily Mail, has also been used to develop advanced robots for military use.

Three former or current researchers with connections to the mythical Los Alamos – where the US has its center for research and development of nuclear weapons, nuclear energy and cyber defense – have also disappeared without a trace.

The FBI states in a statement to CNN that it is “leading the effort to investigate connections between the missing and deceased scientists” and says that it is “working together with the Department of Energy, the Department of Defense and with state and local law enforcement partners to find answers.”

Trump: Serious stuff

Otherwise, the lid is on from the various authorities.

The Defense Department told CNN that it would only respond directly to the committee, and the Energy Department referred questions to the White House.

NASA wrote in a post on X that it is “coordinating and cooperating with relevant authorities.”

“At this time, there is nothing related to NASA that indicates a threat to national security,” said NASA spokeswoman Bethany Stevens.

The White House has said it is also working with federal authorities to investigate possible links between the deaths and the disappearances. President Donald Trump described the matter at the time as “pretty serious stuff,” writes CNN.

Very concerned

– It is very unlikely that this is a coincidence, James Comer recently told Fox News.

– Congress is very concerned about this. Our committee is making this one of our priorities now because we see it as a threat to national security.

Democrat James Walkinshaw, who also sits on the Oversight and Government Reform Committee, tells CNN that he thinks it is appropriate for the matter to be investigated – but he doubts that the deaths and disappearances are connected.

– The United States has thousands of nuclear scientists and experts in nuclear technology, he tells CNN.

– It is not the kind of nuclear program that a foreign adversary could significantly affect by targeting ten individuals.
