Journalist killed in Israeli attack

The remains of a Lebanese journalist were recovered by rescue workers hours after the Israeli attack that killed Amal Khalil.

The Israeli raid took place in southern Lebanon, against the town of al-Tiri, on Wednesday. Her employer, Al-Akhbar, confirmed late at night that the newspaper's reporter had been killed in the attack.

Lebanon's civil defense was able to recover her remains after hours of work in the ruins of a house that was an obvious target of the attack.

The organization Reporters Without Borders (RSF) issued an international appeal to pressure the Israeli military to allow the search for her to take place.

Reports described how the Israeli military shelled the area to hinder the search for Khalil.

Photojournalist Zeinab Faraj was also at the scene of the raid, but survived.
