Meta to reduce staff by ten percent
Meta is to reduce its workforce by ten percent.
Bloomberg writes, referring to a message sent to employees.
Ten percent corresponds to approximately 8,000 employees.
Meta is one of the world's largest tech companies and controls several of the largest social apps globally.
Including Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and Whatsapp.
Now it is to reduce its workforce by approximately 8,000 employees.
The cuts come at the same time as the company is making major investments in AI and developing advanced AI products.
The internal message that Bloomberg refers to was written by Meta's HR manager Janelle Gale.
She mentions the company's AI investments in the letter.
“We are doing this as part of our continued efforts to run the company more efficiently and to balance the other investments we are making.”
She continues:
“I know this is unwelcome news and that it creates uncertainty, but we believe this is the best way forward given the circumstances.”
