Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has again spoken out in writing, with what appears to be a response to US President Donald Trump's comments about divisions in the Iranian leadership.

"Thanks to the remarkable unity formed among our compatriots, the enemy has been defeated," Khamenei wrote on X - a platform that is banned for the Iranian people.

The statement also claims that the enemy will be "further suppressed."

The post comes after President Donald Trump claimed on social media that Iran is having a “very hard time figuring out who the leader is.” Trump also suggested that there was a divide between Iran’s dogmatic and more moderate elements of the Iranian upper echelons.

Iran’s hard-line Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Chief Justice Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei and the more pragmatic President Masoud Pezeshkian have all since issued nearly identical statements aimed at showing unity.

Mojtaba Khamenei succeeded his father Ali Khamenei as supreme leader after the latter was killed in the US-Israeli attack that began the Iran-Iraq war in late February. However, the son has not been seen since then, only issuing written statements. According to intelligence reports, he was seriously injured in the attack that killed his father.
