Middle East crisis Peace talks

Iran says against Trump: “No new talks underway”

No new talks with the US are planned, says Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh according to AFP.

– We cannot plan a date until we agree on the framework, he adds.

Yesterday, Donald Trump said that new talks would be held this weekend and that a peace agreement was one to two days away.

Uncertain whether the US will extend the ceasefire: “Then we will bomb”

Donald Trump states that it is uncertain whether the ceasefire with Iran will be extended when it expires on Wednesday next week, several media outlets report. The US will continue to block Iranian ports and ships – even if a new agreement is not reached, the president says.

– I may not extend it (the ceasefire), but the blockade will continue. Then it is a blockade, and unfortunately we will have to start dropping bombs again.

Negotiations to extend the ceasefire will continue over the weekend, according to Trump.

Iran has threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz again if the US blockade is not lifted.

Trump: Will take the uranium to the US very soon

Donald Trump continues to claim that Iran's enriched uranium will be taken to the US "very soon", several American media outlets report. The president repeated the message during a speech in Phoenix on Friday local time, despite the Iranian regime saying that no such agreement had been reached.

- We will go in together with Iran with lots of excavators, says Trump, referring to the remains of nuclear facilities bombed by the US.

The information is dismissed by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei, who says that the uranium will not be "moved anywhere", according to the state news agency Tasnim.
