Farmers predict a potato shortage and emergency slaughter after the summer
High temperatures in early summer and June, which were exchanged for twice as much rain as in a normal year, dealt a heavy blow to farmers. Farmer Magnus Tuulik in Kristinehamn tells NWT that he will have to slaughter some of his animals as a result of a lack of fodder after the weather.
He estimates that the potato harvest has been delayed by at least a month - at the same time that much has already started to rot and will not be able to be sold.
- This summer has been one of the worst I have experienced, he tells the newspaper.
