Trump wants to see regime change in Iran: “The best thing that could happen”

Donald Trump hopes that there will be regime change in Iran.

– It seems like the best thing that could happen, he says according to several media outlets.

However, the American president does not want to answer questions about who he would like to see as Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s successor.

Earlier on Friday, the United States announced that the world’s largest aircraft carrier, the USS Gerald R Ford, is on its way to the Middle East. Bloomberg writes that the president now has several options if he decides to take military action against Iran.

– We’ll see if we can solve this once and for all. That would be good, says Trump.

The United States is trying to pressure Iran to sign an agreement that, among other things, limits the country’s nuclear program.

Sources: US expects prolonged operation in Iran

US forces are preparing for a prolonged, several-week operation in Iran if President Donald Trump decides to attack. This is reported by two sources to Reuters. The situation is considered to be significantly more serious than previous conflicts between the countries.

The US announced yesterday that another aircraft carrier, the USS Gerald Ford, is being sent to the region. Negotiations between the countries began this week in Oman on Iran's nuclear weapons program. However, in a speech to US soldiers on Friday, Trump said that it had "been difficult" to reach an agreement with Iran.

A potential attack could be directed at facilities belonging to the state and various authorities, not just nuclear facilities. The source also states that the US fully expects Iran to retaliate.
