Trump: Change of power in Iran best thing that could happen

Another American aircraft carrier is on its way to the Middle East.

At the same time, US President Donald Trump says that a regime change in Iran would be good.

– It appears to be the best thing that could happen, the president tells reporters during a visit to the Fort Bragg military base in North Carolina.

The statement comes a few hours after Trump announced that the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R Ford and its battle group will join another naval force, led by the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, which is already in the Middle East.

The ship, the world's largest warship, is sailing from the Caribbean Sea to the Persian Gulf.

- It will be leaving very soon, Trump said earlier on Friday.

This comes against the backdrop of tensions between the United States and Iran, and the resumption of negotiations over the Iranian nuclear energy program.

- If we don't reach a deal, we are going to need it (the aircraft carrier), said Trump, who earlier this week said he was considering sending more ships to the Middle East.
