Rubio cancels Ukraine meeting at short notice

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio canceled a meeting with European leaders about the Russian offensive war in Ukraine at the Munich Security Conference, reports the Financial Times.

Rubio was supposed to meet leaders from Germany, Poland, Finland and the European Commission on Friday. According to a representative, the meeting was canceled at short notice due to a scheduling conflict.

A European source calls the decision "crazy", writes the British Financial Times. Another source states that the meeting lacked weight without the US.

At the same time, the US continues to pressure Ukraine and President Volodymyr Zelenskyj to make concessions.

"Russia wants to make a deal, and Zelenskyy needs to move fast or he will miss a big opportunity," US President Donald Trump told reporters on Friday, according to AFP.
