Iran-US Relations

Trump urged to ignore cautious advisers

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham is urging US President Donald Trump to ignore those trying to persuade him to refrain from bombing Iran.

– I understand the concern about major military operations in the Middle East given past conflicts. But those who advise against getting involved seem to ignore the consequences of allowing evil to continue unchecked, he tells Axios.

He says that after his latest visit to the region this week, he now sees an opportunity for a "historic change" in Iran.

Donald Trump has reportedly been presented with several options for attacks on Iran, which he has threatened to carry out if a nuclear energy deal is not signed.

At the same time, sources to Axios claim that the US could agree to an agreement that allows Iran to "symbolically" enrich uranium, as long as the possibility of developing nuclear weapons in the future is closed.

Witkoff: “Trump wonders why Iran hasn’t given in”

US special envoy Steve Witkoff says in an interview with Fox News that Trump wonders why Iran hasn’t given in yet despite the US military buildup in the region.

– He wonders why they haven’t, I don’t want to use the word capitulated, but why they haven’t given in. Why under this kind of pressure, with the amount of naval force we have there, they haven’t come to us and said: We don’t want a nuclear weapon, so here’s what we’re prepared to do, says Witkoff.

Tensions between Iran and the US have increased in recent weeks, and President Trump has said that the US may attack Iran to force an agreement. The US has demanded that Iran stop enriching uranium, something Iran has refused.

According to information provided to Axios, the United States may accept a deal that allows symbolic enrichment of uranium, as long as the possibility of developing nuclear weapons in the future is closed.
