Middle East crisis Iran-US relations

US and Iran agree on new talks: “Shaked hands”

Iran and the US will meet “soon” for new talks on the Iranian nuclear program. This was stated by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Saturday, AFP reports.

He further said that Friday’s talks, the first in several years, were a “good start”. At the same time, he maintained that it is Iran’s unequivocal right to enrich uranium.

– Even when they bombed us, they could not knock out our capacity, the minister said.

Although Friday’s talks took place indirectly through mediators, Araghchi stated that the two delegations were given the opportunity to shake hands.

US on the talks: “Very good – Iran wants to make a deal”

The indirect talks between the US and Iran in Oman that began on Friday have gone “very well”. This is what US President Donald Trump says, according to AFP.

“It looks like Iran is very keen to make a deal,” the president told reporters aboard Air Force One.

He continued to warn of “serious consequences” if the talks do not lead to a new agreement on Iran’s nuclear program. Hours after the talks began, the United States also imposed new sanctions on Iran and its oil industry.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told state television that the talks were off to a “very good start.”
