Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet with US President Donald Trump in Washington DC on Wednesday.

The purpose is to discuss the tense situation surrounding Iran.

The trip comes after the US and Iran resumed indirect negotiations on the Iranian nuclear energy program.

"The Prime Minister believes that all negotiations must include a limitation of ballistic missiles and an end to support for the Iranian axis," Netanyahu's office wrote in a statement.

The “Iranian axis” refers to the armed groups that Iran supports in its immediate vicinity, such as Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthi movement in Yemen, and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

The United States and Iran met through mediators in Oman on Friday. At that time, only Iran’s nuclear energy program was on the agenda, not the country’s missile program.
