Experts from Both Sides Participate in Talks
Talks between the United States and Iran are underway in the Pakistani capital Islamabad, both sides confirmed, according to Reuters.
Both sides are bringing experts to the talks. Iranian state television reports that a team of experts will participate, and the White House announces that experts in “relevant fields” are on site in Islamabad. Additional experts are supporting the talks from Washington.

Negotiations between the United States and Iran in Pakistan have stalled on the issue of the Strait of Hormuz, negotiators tell the Financial Times.
One of the sources says that Iran insists on maintaining control of the strait and imposing tariffs on ships passing through.
According to the source, Iran refuses to agree to proposals for “joint control”. The talks will continue during the evening, the sources say.

Hundreds of journalists have traveled to Islamabad to report on the talks between the US and Iran. In the makeshift media hub, they are met by baristas, live music and a buffet – but not much to report on. This is what AFP writes.

– There is not much to do here, agrees another.
The updates only started coming in hours after the delegates arrived. And there was no press conference or other media briefing – the information came as press releases via Whatsapp.
Pakistan's Foreign Ministry wrote at the time that Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar had received the American delegation. Hours later, journalists learned that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had met with US Vice President JD Vance.
