Donald Trump is furious with NATO – and is seeking help from Mark Rutte.

Now the Secretary General is calling around to allies to ask for help in opening the Strait of Hormuz, according to information to Reuters.

– We note the frustration in Washington, but they did not consult their allies either before or after the war began, says an EU source.

After the setbacks in Iran, Donald Trump has found his scapegoat:

NATO.

The American president has repeatedly attacked the defense alliance's reluctance to participate in the war, calling it a "paper tiger".

“NATO wasn’t there when we needed them, and they won’t be there if we need them again. Remember Greenland, the big, poorly managed iceberg,” he writes on Truth Social.

Trump and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte met yesterday in Washington, where the president threatened to leave the defense alliance.

Afterwards, Rutte met with the press and said that “American leadership is absolutely essential for freedom.”

– Some allies were a little slow, to put it mildly, in providing the logistical and other support that the United States needed in Iran. But the allies were also a little surprised, he says.

Then Rutte began contacting NATO countries to inform them that Trump wanted an answer within the next few days whether they could help secure the Strait of Hormuz, two European sources told Reuters.

And although NATO countries are critical of the fact that Trump has only now come to them, there is an interest in the Strait of Hormuz being opened.

– NATO itself will not play any role in the war against Iran. But allied countries want to help find a long-term solution for the Strait of Hormuz. When negotiations are underway with Iran, this could be helpful, says an EU source.
