Iran talks underway – but unclear when

The US and Iran are to meet in peace talks. The meeting will take place in Pakistan, but the US and the host country are giving different information about when the talks will begin – Friday or Saturday.

The US delegation in Pakistan will be led by Vice President JD Vance, confirms White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt.

Vance will be accompanied by envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, according to Leavitt, who also says that the talks will begin on Saturday.

But mediating Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has invited the warring parties to talks in the Pakistani capital Islamabad starting on Friday.
