Great Britain: Russian submarines near our cables for a month
For more than a month, the Norwegian and British armed forces have been tracking three Russian submarines that were near “critical” undersea cables and moving north of the British Isles. This was stated by British Defense Minister John Healey at a press conference according to the country’s media.
He says that Putin carried out the operation when he believed that Britain had its eyes on the Middle East.
– What I am presenting today shows that we have not only exposed his secret operation, but also sends a message that we see Russia as our main threat, he continues.
There are no signs that the submarines, which have now sailed north, have caused any damage.

EU hits back at Trump's discontent: "We're doing a lot"
It is "unfair" to accuse Europe of not having contributed enough during the Iran war, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas tells CNN.
The criticism has come mainly from the US, and Donald Trump has repeatedly said that EU countries have not helped US forces. He has also used it as an argument why he believes the US should leave NATO. The Gulf countries have also shown dissatisfaction with the EU during the fighting in the region.
Kaja Kallas disagrees and says that the EU has done "a lot", including through air defense in the region, protecting the Red Sea and supporting the Lebanese government.
The EU summit also argues that it is not the European countries that bear the main responsibility for the situation in the Middle East. She accuses the Gulf countries of double standards and believes that they did not side with Europe during the Russian invasion in 2022.
– It cannot just be one-sided, she continues.

Political situation in India
Snakes and crocodiles could become new border protection in India
In India, the government is considering releasing snakes and crocodiles along the border with Bangladesh as a form of deterrence to reduce illegal border crossings, reports AFP.
Manoj Barnwal, a border security officer, tells the news agency that discussions about releasing reptiles have been going on since February.
“We have been tasked with investigating the possibility of using reptiles such as snakes or crocodiles in vulnerable riverine areas,” he says.
He also says that a report is being prepared to review how it would affect nearby villages and how the animals could be procured.
Large parts of the nearly 4,000-kilometer-long border are unguarded. Relations between India and Bangladesh have also deteriorated since 2024, when the country's then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was forced from power.
