Twelve dead after new Israeli attacks in Lebanon

Twelve people were killed in Israeli attacks on the Bekaa Valley area in eastern Lebanon overnight Tuesday, state media reported, AP writes. The attack comes after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel would escalate attacks on Hezbollah targets on Monday.

At the same time, the Israeli military is urging residents of the town of Nabatieh in southern Lebanon to evacuate.

"For your safety, you must immediately leave your homes and move north of the Zahrani River," writes the military's Arabic-language spokesman Avichay Adraee on X.

Israel: Will intensify attacks on Hezbollah

Israel attacked several Hezbollah targets in Lebanon, including the Bekaa Valley in the eastern part of the country, on Monday. The attacks will be escalated going forward, says Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu according to AP.

This comes after Hezbollah launched fiber-optic drones against Israeli forces in southern Lebanon and northern Israel in recent weeks. Fiber-optic drones are controlled via a thin, several-kilometer-long fiber-optic cable on a reel, which protects against electronic interference. They are often used in the Ukraine war.

– What is needed now is to increase the attacks, increase the intensity. We will strike with the utmost determination, says Netanyahu.

Hezbollah also announced that it carried out eight attacks on Monday. Both sides have continued to attack each other frequently despite the current ceasefire.
