President wants to reconnect Iran
Iran's population has been disconnected from the internet for almost three months. Now President Masoud Pezeshkian wants to reopen the network.
Pezeshkian has ordered Iran's Ministry of Communications to restore connectivity to international networks, to the same status that existed before January 8, when the authorities shut down the network. Reuters reports, citing Iranian state media.
The connection was partially restored later before access was cut off after the Israeli and American attacks on February 28.
However, it is unclear exactly how and when the network can be turned back on, Reuters reports.
At the same time, London-based Iran International writes that the Fars news agency, which is controlled by the Revolutionary Guard, questions the president's authority in the matter, as it was the Security Council that restricted access and that only they can decide on a reopening.
