Trump spoke after a thunderstorm: "Communism is like cancer"
Early this morning Swedish time, US President Donald Trump spoke in Washington on the nation's 250th anniversary. Against a backdrop of historic American flags, he spoke about the greatness of the United States as a nation, interspersed with his own efforts as president.
He devoted a large part of the speech to warning about communism.
- We want to stop such a threat immediately. It's like a cancer, you have to cut it out and cut it out quickly.
Trump also mentioned the war in Iran and the changes to the election rules that he wants to push through before the mid-term elections in the fall.
The speech was delayed by a severe storm with thunder, lightning and strong winds that meant that the National Mall in Washington DC, where the speech was being held, had to be evacuated.
However, the president was hampered by the weather.
“Storms bring luck no matter what the event. They also make the events a little more exciting! We’ll wait it out,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Pickle Company Pulls Out of the Fair Over Confederate Flag
Pickle company Mt. Olive Pickle Company has pulled out of Donald Trump’s Great American State Fair in Washington, D.C., which is being held to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States.
The reason is that the controversial Confederate flag is included in one of the exhibits, The Hill reports. The flag was used by the Southern states during the American Civil War and is today associated with far-right groups in the United States.
The company, which comes from North Carolina, had been invited to participate in the state’s exhibition. But after a video showed that the Confederate flag was present, the company chose to pull out. According to Mt. Olive Pickle Company, it was not aware that the flag was included.
“Our company stands for human dignity, opportunity and freedom,” the company wrote in a statement.
