Even Europe is running out of Patriots for Ukraine

Ukraine's shortage of US-made Patriot anti-aircraft missiles has made Russian nighttime missile attacks on Kyiv increasingly deadly. Now Europe is also running out of Patriot missiles to send to Ukraine, writes Politico.

Kyiv needs hundreds of missiles, but the Iran war is rapidly depleting the US weapons stockpile, and several of Ukraine's largest European donors have so few missiles left that they barely dare to spare any more.

- In recent months, Russia has fired more missiles at us per week than we receive from our allies in a month, said Ukraine's former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov last week.

At the same time, Russia is receiving help from outside. According to Ukraine, a ballistic missile system from North Korea has been placed in Voronezh in western Russia, and several North Korean missiles were fired at Kyiv overnight Tuesday.

Andy Burnham on the warpath against vape shops

The newly appointed Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Andy Burnham has found an enemy to set his sights on: vape shops, writes Sky News.

In most cities in the UK, shopping streets have been filled with vape shops and other cash-intensive businesses that disappear as quickly as they open. It is a badly hidden secret that the shops are often fronts for money laundering, but a complicated system has made it difficult to access them.

Burnham intends to fix the problem with a number of proposals. Among other things, he wants to require that all vape shops need a permit to open.

– We are giving control back to local communities, he says.

The biggest costs come from reduced agricultural production and productivity losses as people find it harder to work in the heat.

Ebola outbreak in Congo the fastest-spreading ever

The ongoing Ebola outbreak in Congo-Kinshasa is the fastest-spreading outbreak ever documented, reports the AP.

The country's authorities reported on Tuesday that the death toll has passed 2,000. At the same time, 704 patients are being treated in hospitals and a total of 4,381 cases have been confirmed.

The World Health Organization WHO estimates that the outbreak began in February, but it was only discovered in May.
