Greenland's warning: Trump's men are bringing stuff ashore

And is getting help from Dr Phil.

Now Greenland is sounding the alarm.

A billion dollars in crude oil may be underground on the ice-free peninsula of Jameson Land in eastern Greenland.

The Texas-based oil company Greenland Energy, which has close ties to Donald Trump, intends to find out if it's true and has set aside 60 million dollars to drill two wells, writes The Guardian.

They still lack permission from the Greenlandic government, but despite that, dozens of containers of drilling equipment have been shipped over on barges in recent months.

The development has prompted Greenlandic authorities to issue a stark warning.

“All future logistical matters must be notified and approved by the Mineral Resources Authority – before they are carried out,” the government said in a statement on July 30.

But it’s not just gadgets that Greenland Energy has brought with it. Former talk show host Phil McGraw, better known as Dr. Phil, is also coming along to make a six-part documentary about the drilling.

McGraw previously served on Trump’s Religious Freedom Commission and has been a vocal supporter of the president’s immigration enforcement agency, ICE.

The oil company has also enlisted the help of a former US Marine who will lead the work to complete the US air defense shield “Golden Dome,” writes The Guardian. According to Trump, control of Greenland is “crucial” for the defense system to function. But Greenland Energy Chairman Larry Swets insists that the oil project “is not related to the US annexation.”

Drilling is scheduled to begin in October and, according to Trump's Greenland envoy Jeff Landry, oil could begin pumping next year.
