Deadly night on both sides in Ukraine war

Russian attacks killed two people and injured about twenty in Ukraine on Sunday night, while a Ukrainian drone strike killed three people in Russia's Belgorod region.

Four years after Russia launched its large-scale invasion offensive against Ukraine, the two countries are stepping up their long-range attacks, leading to a growing number of civilian casualties.

Two people were killed in a Russian drone strike in Kharkiv, where four floors of a residential building were also destroyed, according to Ukrainian President Zelensky. Another 23 people were injured, according to the region's governor Oleh Synehubov.

According to Zelensky, eight people were also injured overnight in Odessa, where attacks damaged the power grid, the port and residential buildings. Another nine people were reportedly injured in an attack on energy infrastructure near a shopping mall in Pavlohrad in the Dnipropetrovsk region, according to the president.

Meanwhile, three people have been killed and 25 injured in a Ukrainian drone attack on the Russian border region of Belgorod overnight, local Russian authorities said.

According to the region's acting governor, Aleksandr Shovayev, Belgorod was attacked overnight by 16 drones, three of which were shot down. The Russian Defense Ministry also said that air defenses shot down 153 Ukrainian drones over 17 Russian regions, the Crimean peninsula, the Black Sea and the Sea of ​​Azov overnight.
