Donald Trump has commented on Iran's demands for war reparations from the United States.
"It's an interesting idea, because now I'm also demanding reparations from Iran for everyone they've killed and injured," he writes on Truth Social.
In addition to the families of killed American soldiers, Trump is demanding that Iran pay reparations to the relatives of all protesters they've killed over the past 50 years. US negotiators have been instructed to demand this in all upcoming negotiations, he adds.
War reparations in the billions are one of the many demands for opening the Strait of Hormuz that Iran presented in a new list this weekend.
According to experts and analysts, Iran senses that Trump wants a way out of the war, and that the strait is his top priority - which is why they have tightened their demands to open it.

This means that Trump has limited opportunities to order new, large-scale attacks on Iran if the negotiations fail, and according to critics, it also makes the US extra vulnerable on other fronts.
Leon Panetta, former Secretary of Defense under Barack Obama, criticizes the Pentagon's "poor planning" in a situation where Russia and China could potentially threaten the US – not least if China decides to invade Taiwan.
