A triple blow for Trump – in the span of a few hours
His approval ratings have hit rock bottom.
According to a new poll, more Americans now hold an unfavorable view of the MAGA movement than they do of socialists.
And in his favorite newspaper, the *New York Post*, he is being accused of helping Putin murder children.
His response? Plans for a new golf course in Washington.
If Donald Trump’s "human printer," Natalie Harp, printed out articles from major U.S. newspapers for the president on Sunday, she likely didn't bring much good news.
In fact, the outlook appears bleak.
A major new poll from *The Washington Post*, ABC News, and Ipsos shows that Trump’s approval rating among American adults has fallen to a record low of 33 percent.
Worst since 1986
That is eight percentage points lower than at this same time last year.
And it doesn’t stop there. Other findings from the poll include:
► For the first time in over a decade, the Democrats are viewed as more trustworthy when it comes to economic issues.
► 72 percent of respondents believe the country is heading in the wrong direction.
► 48 percent of respondents say their personal financial situation is worse now than it was when Trump took office. Not since 1986 has this figure been so high for any president during their term in office.
Large majority: Too extreme
► In February, before Trump launched the war against Iran, 71 percent of people said gasoline prices were affordable. Now, 71 percent consider gasoline to be too expensive. ► 66 percent consider Trump “too extreme,” 65 percent believe it was wrong for Trump to initiate a conflict with Iran, 68 percent disapprove of how the president treats U.S. allies, and 56 percent feel he has gone too far with the deportation of undocumented immigrants.
One detail in the poll might be considered unexpected.
The term “socialism” has long been a common pejorative in American political discourse.
Less favorable view of MAGA
Despite this, a larger share (69 percent) hold a negative view of Trump’s MAGA movement than those (59 percent) who hold a negative view of the “democratic socialism” movement—an ideology with which many radical Democratic candidates claim to sympathize.
Trump’s Sunday likely wasn’t improved by reading the *New York Post*—a conservative daily that, more often than not, throws its full weight behind him.
On its front page and in an editorial, the newspaper launches a fierce attack on Trump’s announcement that he is putting sanctions against Russia on hold.
“Ukraine targets soldiers and stockpiles of drone equipment. Russia targets civilians. Ukraine strikes oil refineries that supply Putin’s army with fuel and fund his invasion. Russia attacks power plants in an attempt to leave women and children to freeze,” writes the *New York Post* editorial board.
Helping Putin kill children
“History will judge harshly an American administration that enables these horrors.” The newspaper also writes that the U.S. is helping to keep the war machine that kills children running, and that Russia can never be an ally as long as Putin remains in power.
“He hates democracy. He hates the West. Putin is not our friend. He will never be our friend. Our parents and grandparents stood up to Russian aggression during the Cold War. Why aren’t we doing the same?” writes the *New York Post*.
**Excited about his golf course**
Meanwhile, Donald Trump shared a plan with the public via his channel on Truth Social to build “a world-class golf course” along the Potomac River.
“Soon to be one of the best and most spectacular golf courses anywhere in the world,” he writes.
Trump also posted a note of thanks from Benjamin Netanyahu, following his decision to endorse the Prime Minister in the upcoming Israeli election.
He also urged France to “close its borders” in the wake of major demonstrations in the country.
Late Sunday evening, following a storm of internal criticism regarding his decision to pause sanctions, he stepped forward to defend his stance on Russia.
**“I can sign it whenever I want”**
“My decision regarding Russia is very simple. I am in the process of negotiating peace in the war between Russia and Ukraine, and I do not want to do anything that might recklessly cause Russia to walk away from the negotiating table,” Trump writes on Truth Social.
“Great progress is being made—and that includes the ongoing negotiations for the release of hostages! Signing that document right now would have that effect. I can sign it later, or at any time I choose.” Trump also states that Ukrainian President Zelenskyy does not want an end to the war.
He wrote nothing about domestic policy.
