The Election in Israel

Trump backs Netanyahu in the election: “Strong and brave”

US President Donald Trump is supporting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the upcoming parliamentary election.

“Bibi Netanyahu has been strong, brave, and brilliant, despite enormous opposition—even from within Israel,” he writes on the social media platform Truth Social.

Trump refers several times to the war against Iran, stating that the US and Israel have together “crushed” the country.

The election is the first since Hamas’s 2023 terror attack on Israel and is expected to be extremely close. AFP describes the election as “a referendum on Netanyahu.”

Netanyahu thanks Trump for his support: “Listen to him”

Benjamin Netanyahu has thanked Donald Trump for his support ahead of the Israeli parliamentary election. In a speech posted on social media, he remarked, among other things, that Israel has “never had a better friend in the White House” than Trump.

Both Trump and Netanyahu emphasize that the US and Israel have struck Iran hard, and they hint that the war may continue.

“I ask you to listen carefully to what President Trump said tonight. He said that, together, we have achieved extraordinary things—but we still have a mission left to complete,” says Netanyahu, according to AFP.
