Democrats are leading the fundraising race in several key midterm election contests—despite massive contributions from Elon Musk to the Republicans.

Both candidates and independent campaign organizations are required to disclose their finances. According to a compilation by Punchbowl News, Democrats dominated in the third-quarter reports—the final filings before the November 3 midterm congressional elections.

In six states identified as critical to the battle for the Senate, Democratic candidates raised between three and six times as much as their Republican counterparts. A similar pattern is evident in the races for the House of Representatives. Democratic candidates are particularly dominant in terms of grassroots donations.

In the opposing corner stands the world’s richest man, Elon Musk, who has donated at least the equivalent of 2.8 billion Swedish kronor to Republican campaign organizations this quarter alone.
