Saudi Arabia has announced that several drones flying toward targets in the capital, Riyadh, have been intercepted.

Meanwhile, the Iran-backed Houthi movement has accused Saudi Arabia of carrying out attacks in Yemen that have claimed the lives of at least twelve people.

Fighting between Saudi Arabia and the Islamist Houthi movement has intensified in recent weeks, following the collapse of a fragile ceasefire in July of this year.

According to Saudi Arabia, the Houthi movement once again targeted locations in the capital, Riyadh—with the international airport singled out as a specific target—but the drone attacks were thwarted.

The movement’s news agency, Saba, claimed that Saudi strikes on the Dhamar province in Yemen killed twelve people, including three children, during attacks that took place overnight into Saturday.
