Thailand's ex-leader taken to hospital with chest pain
Thailand's former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra has been taken to hospital, writes Reuters. He landed yesterday in Bangkok after living in self-imposed exile for over 15 years and was taken straight to prison because he has been convicted in absentia of corruption among other things.
During Tuesday evening, Thaksin reportedly had chest pains and high blood pressure and was then moved early on Wednesday to a hospital.
In a statement, Thailand's prison authority said Thaksin Shinawatra was moved because the prison's medical ward did not have sufficient equipment to deal with his symptoms.
