Last year, summer came record early.
This year, sun worshippers will have to wait a good while longer.
– We still have a few setbacks, says meteorologist Lasse Rydqvist.
The week is starting brightly, with double-digit plus degrees in several parts of the country on Monday and Tuesday.
– The weather is quite stable right now. In western Götaland and Svealand, it can probably reach 14 degrees, says Lasse Rydqvist, meteorologist at Klart.
The turn will come on Wednesday, when a real cold snap hits the country. Fresh northerly winds can mean that it will be significantly colder than the thermometer shows.
– If you are outside in five or six plus degrees, you can probably experience zero-degree cold. You should probably take a slightly thicker jacket than you think you need, says Lasse Rydqvist.
Snow warning in Greece
The rest of Europe will also face unusually cold weather for this time of year.
In Greece, they are even warning of snowfall.
– It is not entirely unusual for snow to fall in higher terrain in Greece. However, if there is a lot of snow, it is not normal, says Lasse Rydqvist.
At the same time last year, Sweden entered a record-breaking meteorological summer.
This year, it will probably have to wait a while longer. The temperature certainly looks like it will rise already this weekend, but according to Lasse Rydqvist, there will probably be a couple more setbacks before the heat is definitely here to stay.
Does that mean it will be a shorter summer?
– I would say no. I'm basing that solely on the fact that I just saw a lemon butterfly. It usually means the summer will be good.
