Tariff crisis  Trump's tariff policy
Trump: India stops buying Russian oil – gets reduced tariffs

The US is reducing tariffs on India to 18 percent from the previous 25 percent. In exchange, India will stop buying Russian oil and reduce its tariffs and trade barriers against the US to zero. This is evident from the countries' new trade agreement, writes Donald Trump on Truth Social.

"He agreed to stop buying Russian oil and to instead buy significantly more from the US and, potentially, Venezuela," writes Trump, referring to Indian leader Narendra Modi.

India also commits to "buy American" on a larger scale, such as $500 billion in several sectors, writes Trump.

Political situation in France
France gets a budget – after four months

France has adopted a state budget for 2026 after Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu survived two new no-confidence votes, reports AFP.

This brings to an end four months of political deadlock. Lecornu promised last month not to use the constitutional amendment Article 49.3 to force proposals through parliament without a vote, but abandoned it after no solution could be found.

This led to no fewer than four no-confidence votes. The last two, brought by the far right and the far left respectively, were voted down on Friday.

The budget aims, among other things, to reduce the budget deficit from 5.4 to 5 percent of GDP and increase defense spending by 6.5 billion euros.

The Greenland crisis  US threats
Greenland leader: We live with worry and anxiety

The US threat to take control of Greenland has had a major impact on the island's population. This was stated by Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen in a speech on Monday, according to TT.

– Some of our residents have serious sleep problems, the children feel the worry and anxiety of the adults, and we all live in constant uncertainty about what may happen tomorrow.

The Greenlandic government has been clear that this is “completely unacceptable,” he adds.

In the speech, Nielsen also warns that Trump is still seeking control over Greenland.

Protests in Iran
Iran summons all EU ambassadors

Iran's Foreign Ministry has summoned all EU ambassadors in protest against the Union's designation of Iran's Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organization, AP reports.

The EU agreed on the terrorist designation last week, due to the Revolutionary Guard's violence against protesters - resulting in thousands of deaths.

Sweden has an embassy in Tehran, but is not specifically mentioned in the report.

Iran reportedly orders new nuclear talks with the US

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has ordered new nuclear talks with the US. This is reported by state-owned media, according to AFP.

A representative of Iran's Foreign Ministry tells Reuters that Iran is now examining the conditions under which such talks can take place.

Last week, Iranian sources told the news agency that Trump has three sharp demands on Iran: that no uranium enrichment is carried out, that the missile program is limited and that support for allied groups in the Middle East is stopped. Iran has long said no to all of them, but according to the sources, uranium enrichment is not as sensitive an issue for the regime as the missile program.

The talks between the countries would be seen as a diplomatic breakthrough in the tense situation between the countries.
