Mexico will send humanitarian aid to Cuba, President Claudia Sheinbaum said, according to the AP. At the same time, US President Donald Trump claims to have demanded that Mexico completely end its oil exports to the island nation.

Since the US capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, Cuba has lost an important source of oil imports, which could affect the Cuban population. Mexico has therefore become an important lifeline for Cuba.

Republicans should take away the right to run the presidential election from American states, says Donald Trump according to Politico.

“Republicans should say: ‘We want to take over. We should take over the voting in at least 15 places.’ Republicans should nationalize the elections, says the president.

According to the US Constitution, the states run their own voting processes in presidential elections.

Trump has recently once again escalated his false claims of election fraud in 2020. Last week, the FBI raided a polling place in Georgia, which Trump narrowly lost in the election, and a large amount of ballots were seized.

There she is said to have called Donald Trump on his cell phone, after which the president spoke to the agents via speakerphone, according to the sources.

During the short conversation, Trump is said to have asked questions about the operation and thanked the agents for their work. The whole thing was reminiscent of a sports coach giving a pep talk to his team, according to one of the sources.

Trump has recently stepped up the false claims that voter fraud was behind his 2020 election loss.

“Soon, people will be prosecuted,” he said in Davos last week.
