Greenland crisis  US threat
Greenland says no thanks to hospital ship from the US

Greenland Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen has commented on Donald Trump's post about the hospital ship.

"It's going to be a no thanks from here," he writes on Facebook and continues:

"We have a public health and medical system where treatment is free for citizens [...] That's not the case in the US, where it costs money to go to the doctor."

Nielsen urges Trump to speak directly to Greenland instead of making "more or less random outbursts on social media."

On Sunday night, Trump wrote on Truth Social that the US is sending a hospital ship to the island to care for what he claims without explanation are "the many sick people who are not receiving care there."

Russian invasion  The world’s response
Hungary: No new sanctions until we get Russian oil

Hungary will block the EU’s next package of sanctions against Russia until Ukraine starts transporting Russian oil again, reports the AP.

“We have previously made it clear that unless the Ukrainians resume oil shipments to Hungary, we will not approve any decisions that are important to them,” Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said in a clip on social media.

Hungary and Slovakia are the only two EU countries that are largely dependent on Russian oil via the Druzhba pipeline, which was built during the Soviet era and transports Russian oil through Ukraine.

Both countries have also said that they will cut off emergency electricity to Ukraine unless the oil tap is turned back on.

Iran in secret billion-dollar arms deal with Russia

In December, Iran signed an arms deal with Russia worth the equivalent of over five billion kronor. This is shown by leaked Russian documents and source information that the Financial Times has seen.

Under the agreement, Russia will deliver 500 portable, shaft-fired Verba air defense systems and 2,500 9M336 missiles to Iran over the next three years.

Verba is one of Russia’s most modern air defense weapons. Its infrared-guided missiles can shoot down cruise missiles, low-flying aircraft and drones.

Riots in Mexico – car fires and road blockades

A large-scale riot broke out in the Mexican state of Jalisco on Sunday morning, local time.

It was when federal forces carried out an operation in Tapalpa that violent reactions followed in different parts of the state, writes Tribuna de la Bahia.

According to the newspaper, armed drug cartels have set up roadblocks on several highways and burned both cars, trucks and public transport vehicles.

Jalisco Governor Pablo Lemus Navarro writes on X that he has summoned the Security Council and activated code red.

He urges the public to stay home until the situation is under control.

"The roadblocks have spread to territorial border areas, even to other neighboring states. We are coordinating with the federal and other state governments to protect the population."

Puerto Vallarta on the Pacific coast is said to be among the cities hardest hit.
