In countries that Iran has attacked on the other side of the Persian Gulf, a ceasefire raises hope that the escalation is over. There is also an Emirati victory cry.
Saudi Arabia supports the ceasefire in the US and Israel's war against Iran.
"The Kingdom hopes that the ceasefire represents an opportunity to achieve a comprehensive and sustainable de-escalation that improves security in the region, and that there are no more attacks that undermine the sovereignty, security and stability of the countries of the region," the Saudi Foreign Ministry announced.
The United Arab Emirates is on the victorious side in the war, a close advisor to the country's president declared.
“The United Arab Emirates is emerging victorious from a war we earnestly sought to avoid,” writes advisor Anwar Gargash on X.
A deadly strike occurred in Iraq, near the border with Kuwait, shortly before the ceasefire was announced. During the night and morning that followed, a number of attacks occurred on the other side of the Persian Gulf from Iran, including in Abu Dhabi and Bahrain.
Oman, which is said to be involved in a solution for control of the Strait of Hormuz, expresses hope that the root causes of the conflict will now be resolved. Qatar calls on Iran to immediately lay down its arms.
