Report: New Talks in Pakistan Postponed
US Vice President JD Vance's trip to Pakistan for new peace talks has been postponed. Sources tell the New York Times and AP.
This is because Iran has not responded to the Americans' latest offer in the negotiations, according to the source.
The past few days have been a jumble of source information and unclear messages from all parties. Neither the US, Iran nor mediator Pakistan have officially confirmed plans for new talks.
They do not even agree on exactly when the ceasefire will end, but all three have given different times on Wednesday or the night before Thursday, Swedish time.
Trump: Does not want to extend the ceasefire with Iran
Donald Trump has no intention of extending the ceasefire with Iran, which expires tomorrow, he tells CNBC.
-We are ready militarily, he adds.
No new peace talks have been confirmed. According to sources to Axios and the AP, US Vice President JD Vance and Iranian Speaker Mohammed Bagher Qalibaf are expected to travel to Pakistan today, but neither side has made any official announcement.
Both countries are expressing a wait-and-see attitude. Qalibaf says Iran is not negotiating under threat, while Donald Trump says he feels no time pressure, but is also confident that the US will get a “fantastic deal” because its negotiating position is “very, very strong.”
