The US has attacked and seized an Iranian cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz, Donald Trump writes on Truth Social.

He states that the ship was trying to get around the US blockade of Iranian ports.

“It didn’t go very well for them.”

The US Navy fired on the ship when it did not stop after a “clear warning,” according to Trump.

“The Iranian crew refused to listen, so our Navy ship stopped them immediately by blowing a hole in the engine room.”

He writes that the ship “Tousca” is subject to US sanctions.

“We have full control of the ship and are investigating what is on board!”

Iran has not commented on the matter.

Trump furious

Earlier on Sunday, Donald Trump reacted strongly to reports that two small boats from Iran's Revolutionary Guard opened fire on merchant ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday.

"Iran decided to fire bullets yesterday in the Strait of Hormuz - a total violation of our ceasefire agreement! Many of them were aimed at a French ship and a British cargo ship. That wasn't nice, was it?", he wrote on Truth Social and continued:

"If they don't, the US will knock out every single power plant and bridge in Iran. NO MORE MR NICE GUY".

Iran rejects negotiations

The US president has previously said that US negotiators would travel to Pakistan on Monday for another round of talks with Iran.

But then Iran announced that it would not participate in the planned negotiations before the ceasefire between the countries expires on Wednesday.

The reason is stated to be “Washington’s unreasonable demands, unrealistic expectations, constant changes in position, repeated contradictions, and the ongoing naval blockade, which is considered a violation of the ceasefire,” according to the state-owned IRNA news agency.
