Trump: US to Pakistan for Iran talks

US President Donald Trump says the US is sending a delegation to Pakistan on Monday for new peace talks regarding Iran.
"We are offering a very fair and reasonable deal, and I hope they accept it, because if they don't, the US will knock out every power plant and every bridge in Iran," Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.
Trump also wrote that Iran fired in the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday and called it a "total violation of our ceasefire agreement." Among other things, a French ship and a British cargo ship were fired upon, according to the president.
Iran has not confirmed that direct talks with the US will take place.
In the Pakistani capital Islamabad, authorities have begun tightening security ahead of a possible new round of negotiations. Soldiers have been deployed at roadblocks, traffic has been diverted and tourist attractions have been closed. Several major hotels have also been asked to cancel existing reservations, reports the AP.
American security forces have also arrived, an anonymous source familiar with the mediation work told the news agency.
The ceasefire between the parties expires on Wednesday.
