No ships appear to have passed through the Strait of Hormuz since Iran declared it closed. Two ships have been on their way but made sharp turns.

Iran's armed forces took "swift action" and stopped two tankers from sailing through the strait, according to a statement published in state media such as the Tasnim news agency.

The Wall Street Journal has reported on two ships sailing towards the strait on Sunday morning. The ships made sudden U-turns near the island of Larak near the strait, where the Iranian coast guard has a presence.

No merchant ships or tankers have passed through, according to publicly available traffic information.

Several ships were able to pass through the strait during the hours it was said to be open earlier this weekend. Several that were en route turned back after Iran's new announcement.
